Thanksgiving has arrived, which means a day of turkey, friends, family and football. The NFL and college football have a solid set of contests for the holiday, with both postseason and pride implications. The slate includes two interstate rivalries among the college ranks and three NFL battles that could greatly impact the playoff picture.
For the NFL; the NFC and AFC North divisions will have the spotlight as two games featuring long-contested rivals sandwich the annual Thanksgiving game in Dallas. The battle for the NFC North starts the day off with the division-leading Lions hosting the Packers. After Green Bay and Detroit clash, the Cowboys will look to continue their NFC East lead with a win over the visiting Raiders. In prime time, the Ravens will host the Steelers, with the winner keeping their playoff hopes alive and the loser likely out of the running.
In the college world, Texas Tech will travel to Austin to face the Texas Longhorns. The SEC will feature the Egg Bowl rivalry between Ole Miss and Mississippi State. While neither matchup features a ranked team, they should both be pretty close contests with local pride and bowl hopes left to fight for.
