Matt Forte injury: Bears RB misses Wednesday practice

The Bears running back was held out of Wednesday's practice with a knee issue.

Chicago Bears running back Matt Forte did not practice on Wednesday, nursing his hyperextended knee which was injured last Sunday in a 42-21 loss to the St. Louis Rams, according to John Mullin.

Forte is obviously one of the most important cogs to a Chicago offense that is relied upon more than ever with the defense struggling mightily this season. The former Tulane star has already amassed 851 rushing yards on 4.5 yards per attempt. Without him, the Bears would be putting even more pressure on backup quarterback Josh McCown should he start for the third consecutive week.

However, Chicago does expect Forte to be suiting up this Sunday when the Bears take on the listless Minnesota Vikings at Mall of America Field. Per the piece:

"I’m still optimistic," coach Marc Trestman said. "I feel pretty good that he’ll start getting some work tomorrow, we’ll see where he’s at but I’m optimistic about that."

Chicago is currently tied atop the NFC North with the Detroit Lions, but lose the tiebreaker since the Lions have won both head-to-head meetings.
