Josh Sitton wont back down from 'scumbag' assessment of Lions

The Green Bay Packers were embarrassed, but Josh Sitton is standing by his pre-game comments.

Green Bay Packers offensive guard Josh Sitton called the Detroit Lions "dirtbags" and "scumbags" prior his team's game on Thanksgiving, and he's not backing down from his comments after a 40-10 loss.

Sitton called his team's performance "embarrassing," in which the offensive line allowed quarterback Matt Flynn to be sacked seven times, including a third quarter safety where he was driven into the ground by Ndamukong Suh -- one of the players Sitton was critical of prior to the game.

"They play good. They play good up front," Sitton said. "No one ever said they're not a good front. We know that. I think they're probably the best inside front in the league. But like I said, I don't take anything I said back."

The Lions defense has a reputation of being an aggressive unit, that sometimes lacks discipline which can cause costly penalties. Suh infamously stomped on rotational lineman Evan Dietrich-Smith when the team's met on Thanksgiving in 2011, but there was no controversy in 2013 outside of the surprisingly one-sided affair.

Sitton's comments are another page in the rivalry between these NFC North foes, and one that will continue to be written in 2014 when these teams next face off.
