Scandrick has consistently been one of Dallas' top cornerbacks this season and is now locked up through 2018. He received an extension back in 2011 worth $25 million in guaranteed money. This contract will add $9 million in guaranteed money and two years to that deal.
A 26-year-old cornerback, Scandrick has taken over boundary corner duties this season after the Cowboys benched 2012 first-round pick Morris Claiborne. The Cowboys have given up the most yards through the air of any team in the NFL this season. They also have the seventh-highest opponent completion percentage in the league. To say Dallas' defense struggles to defend the pass is an understatement.
With Scandrick locked up, the Cowboys at least have some stability. However, Jerry Jones has a lot more work to do in order to sure up this area of the Dallas defense.
