Rapoport described Frazier's chances of returning as the team's head coach for a fourth year as "grim." The Vikings are currently 3-9-1 and sit in last place in the NFC North.
Frazier led the team to a 10-6 record and a playoff berth last season, but has otherwise found little success in Minnesota. He has an overall record of 19-31-1 and has only the one trip to the playoffs.
Frazier served as the team's interim head coach for the last six games in 2010 following the firing of Brad Childress. He guided the team to a 3-3 finish and was hired as the Vikings' full-time coach after the season.
Despite having the league's top running back in Adrian Peterson, the Vikings have failed to show a competent offense this season, an issue that can be largely attributed to shortcomings at the quarterback position. Christian Ponder has failed to develop into the franchise signal caller the team had hoped and Josh Freeman has made little impact since Minnesota signed him off the free agent market.
