Chiefs vs. Raiders 2013 results: Jamaal Charles carries Kansas City to 56-31 win

Jed Jacobsohn

Jamaal Charles managed to score more touchdowns than the Raiders offense, and that wasn't good for the Raiders.

Jamaal Charles didn't want there to be any doubt.

On the first play from scrimmage in the Kansas City Chiefs' 56-31 win over the Oakland Raiders on Sunday, Charles took a screen pass and turned up field. Shaking a few tacklers along the way, Charles made it 49 yards for a touchdown, and the Chiefs never looked back.

Charles continued to give the Raiders fits. In the first half alone, he had four touchdowns. Three came on screen passes, as Charles caught five passes for 111 yards. He added a score on the ground, where he had six carries for 16 yards in the first half. Kansas City's halftime lead was 35-17.

The Raiders didn't go down quietly. Rashad Jennings scored a pair of touchdowns early, and Oakland was able to score points for most of the afternoon. But four Matt McGloin interceptions proved too much to overcome. In fact, Chiefs safety Eric Berry intercepted two passes for 98 return yards and a touchdown. No Oakland receiver had that many yards in the game.

Charles finished with five touchdowns total. He only had 20 rushing yards and a touchdown but caught eight passes for 195 yards and four touchdowns, so that more than made up for his lack of production on the ground.

With the win, the Chiefs clinched a playoff spot and are still in the hunt in the AFC West race. Will the Chiefs win a playoff game for the first time in 20 years? Stay tuned.

Fantasy Studs and Duds

Jamaal Charles has been a fantasy football star all season and that continued on Sunday. He scored five touchdowns in the game and probably broke your fantasy football playoffs. As if that wasn't enough, Alex Smith was one of the top fantasy football quarterbacks of the week with five touchdowns of his own.

For the Raiders, Rashad Jennings qualified as a fantasy stud with two touchdowns on the ground.

Did They Cover?

The Chiefs were three-point favorites, according to, so they did manage to cover the spread.
