The Tennessee Titans beat the Jacksonville Jaguars, 20-16, on Sunday to secure a second-place finish in the AFC South at 6-9. The Titans had already fallen out of playoff contention in the AFC by losing four of their last five games -- including a 29-27 loss to Jacksonville -- but they regain a bit of confidence by winning their sixth game of the year.
Tennessee rushed for 182 yards as a team, with both Shonn Greene and Chris Johnson gaining at least 90 yards on the ground. Quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick threw for 181 yards and a touchdown, including a 30-yard strike to Nate Washington for the go-ahead score early in the fourth quarter.
The loss drops the Jaguars to 4-11 with one game to go. Veteran center Brad Meester, who announced his retirement this week, played in his final home game after 14 years with Jacksonville. He didn't get a win, but Meester did get his first career catch.
Fantasy Studs and Duds
Besides Meester (one catch for nine yards), Mike Brown had 71 yards and a score for the Jags. Tight end Marcedes Lewis had 50 yards and a touchdown of his own. Running back Maurice Jones-Drew was active but rushed for just 45 yards.
For the Titans, Washington had 117 yards and that go-ahead score, Greene rushed for 91 yards and a touchdown, while Johnson had 90 yards. Receiver Kendall Wright was held to just 22 yards.
