Von Miller injury: Broncos LB out with knee issue

Thomas Campbell-USA TODAY Sports

Miller suffered a knee injury against the Texans and has been ruled out for the rest of the day.

Update: Miller is undergoing tests on the knee and the team fears it is a "significant" injury.

Denver Broncos linebacker Von Miller left Sunday's game against the Houston Texans with a knee injury. The team said he is questionable to return to the game, but later ruled him out. His day is over.

Miller suffered the knee injury early in the first quarter, but was able to walk off under his own power. The severity of his injury is unknown at the moment, but it's a big loss for a Denver defense that has been struggling in recent weeks. Shaun Phillips will try to replace him for now.

Miller is one of the most talented defenders in the league, but his 2013 season didn't have a great start. He missed the first eight games with a suspension. Since returning in Week 9, he recorded five sacks, three forced fumbles and 33 tackles in just eight games. The injury is poor timing for the Broncos, who are trying to lock up homefield advantage for the playoffs.
