This has not been a good year to be a running back for the Houston Texans. Arian Foster and Ben Tate already landed on injured reserve and now Houston may be down to its fifth string running back after more injuries on Sunday.
Here is a complete look at the AFC South injury updates.
Quarterback Case Keenum has ligament damage in his thumb and his status for the season finale will be decided later in the week. Whoever plays quarterback will be handing the ball to Jonathan Grimes. Dennis Johnson is questionable with a hip injury and Deji Karim is done for the season after suffering a broken collarbone. Johnathan Joseph is also done for the season due to a torn ligament in his toe. Joseph dealt with toe issues through most of the season and will have offseason surgery.
The Colts got a boost on Sunday with the return of cornerback Greg Toler. He played very limited snaps, partially due to the cold weather, but was able to get through the game without aggravating his groin injury. Defensive end Cory Redding suffered a shoulder injury, but an MRI did not reveal damage and he's expected to play this week. Sergio Brown is also expected to play while Joe Reitz passed his concussion test.
Maurice Jones-Drew returned to the lineup on Sunday and did not have any issues with his hamstring. He'll likely start at running back in the season finale. Dwayne Gratz left the game on Sunday with an ankle injury and did not return. The Jaguars placed Roy Miller and Brandon Deaderick on injured reserve.
Chris Johnson missed practice time last week due to a knee injury but played on Sunday and finished with 90 yards on 22 carries. The Titans offense should be close to full strength for the final game of the year.
