Chiefs vs. Chargers 2013 odds: San Diego fighting for a playoff spot

Denny Medley-USA TODAY Sports

The Chargers will host the Chiefs in a game that really matters to San Diego and the odds are in their favor.

The Chargers will host the Chiefs on Sunday in a game that has huge implications for San Diego's playoff push. The Chiefs have locked up the fifth seed in the postseason, so this game is essentially meaningless and head coach Andy Reid has a history of resting starters heading into the playoffs. San Diego needs both the Ravens and Dolphins to lose, along with a win against Kansas City to make the postseason. With so much riding on the game for San Diego and little on the line for Kansas City, the Chargers are favored by 10 points, according to OddsShark.

The over/under for this matchup is 45 points. The Chargers and Chiefs are both 6-9 with the over/under this season. San Diego is 9-5-1 against the spread this season, while the Chiefs are 8-7. The Chargers are 4-1 in the last five games against the spread.

The Ravens and Dolphins games take place earlier in the day, so there is a chance that the Chargers will be eliminated before they even play. This likely will impact the personnel on the field for Sunday.
