Kubiak's name is one of several in the running for the Buccaneers job, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. He led the Texans to a 2-11 record in 2013 before being fired by the organization in early December. It was Kubiak's least successful season in Houston, where he led the team to a 61-64 record in eight years, including back-to-back playoff berths in 2011 and 2012.
Tampa Bay fired head coach Greg Schiano early on Monday, and names quickly began being linked to the organization. The team is reportedly interested in Lovie Smith, a coach with a defensive background as opposed to Kubiak's history on offense.
A head coach taking over the Buccaneers' mantle will need to quickly assess the team's quarterback position and determine if Mike Glennon can be a long-term option before waiting for the draft in May. The team will be selecting seventh overall following a 4-12 record this year.
