The road is bleak for both teams, but the playoffs remain in reach for New York and San Diego -- provided they can win this week. First year head coach Mike McCoy is making the Chargers a team to watch, but it's unclear whether he can make an impact this year.
It's a sweep over at ESPN. All 13 experts believe San Diego can win at home on the back of its impressive offense. The Chargers have managed injuries as well as any team in the NFL, finding ways to win with depth receivers and rookies. Keenan Allen has stepped up in 2013, and could be in the running for offensive rookie of the year honors.
CBS isn't sold on San Diego dominance. Their panel is split 3-3, with picks leader Will Brinson siding with the Giants. It's hard to count out Eli Manning, especially with New York's season on the line. A win is vital for both teams, but the Giants could be more desperate.
Our analysts at SB Nation split both outlets, but are decidedly more convinced the Chargers will win. Our experts went 5-1 in favor of San Diego, and Ryan Van Bibber justified his pick of why he things New York can win against the spread.
Reminisces of the Eli Manning/Philip Rivers trade would be a lot more interesting if these two teams were in a different place than 5-7 apiece. These two teams haven't played each other since 2009. The Chargers won that one. New York is finding its way again, winning five of its last six games. The Chargers have one win in their last four, against the Chiefs.
