Notre Dame linebacker Manti Te'o has been working out diligently in preparation for the 2013 NFL Scouting Combine, despite dealing with his fake girlfriend story as a distraction.
Notre Dame linebacker Manti Te'o hasn't had the best two months. The Fighting Irish were stomped by Alabama in the BCS National Championship game, and then weeks later, Deadspin reported that Te'o's girlfriend, who allegedly died in 2012, never existed.

Despite the non-stop media attention over his fake girlfriend, Te'o has remained diligent preparing for the 2013 NFL Scouting Combine. Per ESPN, Te'o has missed just one day of workouts leading up to this week's showcase event in Indianapolis.
"He missed precisely one day," said former NFL quarterback Chris Weinke, the director of football operations at IMG Academy where Te'o has been preparing for the combine. The combine starts Wednesday in Indianapolis.
"He's gone about his business and been the same guy all along," Weinke said.
Te'o has an opportunity this week in Indianapolis to increase his draft stock, which might have taken a hit after the girlfriend-hoax story. In SB Nation's latest mock draft, Te'o was selected with the No. 32 overall pick by the Baltimore Ravens, with Dan Kadar calling the fit between Baltimore and Te'o "too perfect."
NFL Draft guru Mike Mayock wrote in January that Te'o had plenty of time to rehabilitate his image prior to the NFL Draft. A strong showing at the NFL Combine will go a long way to cementing his status as a first-round talent, and Te'o can then proceed to rehabilitate his image throw interviews and private workouts with various NFL teams.
Still, Te'o needs a strong performance at the NFL Combine this week -- and if he's been working out diligently for the last month and a half, he could very well turn in a stock-raising performance.
