John David Mercer-USA TODAY Sports

The San Francisco 49ers could have as many as 15 picks in the 2013 NFL Draft as a result of the Alex Smith trade Wednesday. How will the team spend it's bounty?

Wednesday's trade sending Alex Smith to the Kansas City Chiefs will make a busy 2013 NFL Draft for the San Francisco 49ers even busier. The 49ers could net a second round draft pick, according to reports, giving the team as many as 15 picks to work with, including five selections within the first 93 of the draft.

Heading into the day, the Niners already likely had 14 picks to work worth. Eleven of the picks are set in stone, with four coming from trades made in previous years. Three more are likely compensatory picks, though those will not be officially determined until March.

The Niners could ultimately net two picks from the Chiefs, with the second likely applying to the 2014 NFL Draft. Just what the team does with the glut of picks remains to be seen. The 49ers are not expected to have much roster turnover from their Super Bowl squad, so they may be doing a lot of wheeling and dealing once Day 1 of the NFL Draft rolls around.
