Sandy Hook Elementary School's choir will perform "America the Beautiful" during Super Bowl XLVII's pregame show, helping to honor the 26 victims of the shooting that took place in Newtown, Conn.

Victims of the horrendous Sandy Hook massacre will be honored during Super Bowl XLVII's pregame show, as Sandy Hook Elementary School's choir will sing "America the Beautiful," which will be broadcast live on CBS before the game.

20 first-grade students and six adults tragically passed away in one of the most gruesome shootings in American history on Dec. 14 in Newtown, Conn. 26 students were selected to sing "America the Beautiful," -- the same number of victims nearly two months ago.

The NFL previously did its best to honor the victims of the Sandy Hook shootings. The New York Jets, New York Giants and New England Patriots all wore Sandy Hook Elementary School decals on their helmets after the shooting occurred. Prior to their Sunday Night Football game against the San Francisco 49ers, the Patriots sent 26 white flares up into the sky during a moment of silence commemorating the lives lost.

Giants wide receiver Victor Cruz also went out of his way to help ease the pain of those grieving. Cruz met with Jack Pinto's family. Pinto was one of the children who lost his life in the tragedy, and was buried in a Cruz jersey. Cruz met with Pinto's family in Connecticut, and even wrote Jack Pinto's name on his cleats prior to New York's game against Atlanta.

This isn't the first time the Super Bowl has been used as a stage to honor victims of tragedies. In 2002, U2 performed "MLK" and "Where the Streets Have no Name" to end the Super Bowl XXXVI halftime show, with the names of the 9/11 victims scrolling across screens and throughout the SuperDome -- the same location of Super Bowl XLVII.

The performance will take place before Alicia Keys sings the National Anthem. Those who wish to hear the performance should tune in by 6 p.m. ET to ensure that they don't miss it. Kickoff is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. ET.
