The 49ers are closing in on the Ravens, this time getting a field goal to make it a five-point game.
The San Francisco 49ers' comeback is still on. This time it is a field goal that moves them closer to the Baltimore Ravens and cuts their deficit to 28-23, but it wasn't your average field goal drive.
Just like their last drive, when they started at the Ravens' 20, the 49ers had great field position this time around after Ray Rice's fumble gave them the ball at the Ravens' 24. But San Francisco couldn't turn the field position into six this time. An incomplete pass and short run by Frank Gore put the 49ers in third and 8, which they couldn't convert. Worse, David Akers missed the field goal.
Baltimore gave San Francisco a gift, though.
Chykie Brown ran into Akers after the kick for a penalty that gave Akers another attempt at the kick. This time he made his field goal and cut the Ravens' lead to 28-23
