Bernard Pierce limped off the field into the locker room with a possible head injury.

Baltimore Ravens running back Bernard Pierce went to the locker room after getting hauled down hard on a third quarter run during the Super Bowl. Pierce reportedly went off the field limping. He has been dealing with a bone bruise in his right knee lately, according to Aaron Wilson of the Baltimore Sun, though it appeared he may have hit his head upon replay.

Pierce has been very effective for the Ravens. He has 30 yards rushing on nine carries, though 3.3 YPC is a bit deceiving considering how fast the San Francisco 49ers' front seven has been swarming. Ray Rice is averaging just 2.9 yards per carry with 16 carries, and lost a third quarter fumble that led to a Niners field goal.

UPDATE: Pierce returned to the game for a short carry early in the fourth quarter. There is no word yet on what he injured.
