"Heh, I sure gave those Ravens hell, didn't I, coach? Coach? Coach look at me." - Christian Petersen
The Super Bowl is over and it's time for everyone to go home. Even Alex.
It's Monday at 1:35 p.m. at the Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport. Alex Smith sits in one of the slightly-padded chairs, waiting for his flight back to California. It leaves at 8 a.m. on Tuesday. Alex is full of Cinnabon and is feeling introspective and wistful. He thinks about the crazy game last night. What a wild ride!
Even though he wasn't much of a part of it, it was exhilarating to be there. To come back so far and to finish so close to victory with everything on the line. Even watching from the sidelines, it was an experience he'll never forget.
Alex glances at his open carry-on bag. The telltale bundle of wires, screwdriver and sheaf of papers marked "SUPERDOME ELECTRICAL SCHEMATICS TOP SECRET FOR ALEX'S EYES ONLY" peek out at him guiltily. He zips up his bag quickly, ashamed. He didn't know what he was thinking, but he's sure glad his hairbrained scheme didn't work out.
I should really get Colin's phone number, thinks Alex. He doesn't seem like such a terrible guy.
