NFL free agency: Connor Barwin draws considerable interest

Free agent linebacker Connor Barwin is drawing interest from multiple teams, according to Jason La Canfora.

Free agent linebacker Connor Barwin is drawing interest from "at least three teams" according to CBS Sports' Jason La Canfora.

Despite a drop in production in 2012, Barwin is likely going to command a rich contract. La Canfora expects Barwin will sign once Paul Kruger and Cliff Avril are off the market, paving the way for the second-tier pass rushers -- which Barwin headlines.

Barwin finished the 2012 season with 44 tackles, only three fewer than 2011, but just three sacks -- a considerable drop from the 11.5 sacks he recorded in 2011.

Earlier in March, Barwin hinted that he'd be more than willing to leave Houston, saying that it would "be nice" to play for the New England Patriots, and also mentioned potentially playing for the Indianapolis Colts in 2013 -- Houston's main AFC South rival.

Whether or not the Patriots or Colts have interest in Barwin remains to be seen.

Houston drafted Barwin in the second round of the 2009 NFL Draft, with the No. 46 overall pick. Barwin missed the majority of the 2010 season after suffering an ankle injury in Houston's season opener.

If Barwin does move on from Houston, he will end his Texans career with 19 sacks in 49 games.
