Delmas already has a connection to the Rams coaching staff, as new St. Louis defensive coordinator Tim Walton coached Delmas as the defensive backs coach in Detroit. In his four years as a member of the Lions, Delmas has been among the most talented safeties in the league when healthy.
Over the last two seasons, Delmas missed 13 games. Last season a knee injury limited him to just eight games. The Lions have been worried about his health, making them reluctant to re-sign him. Delmas has taken that reluctance as a slight, saying, "the Lions are cheating on me."
At only 25, Delmas is a young safety with a promising future if he can stay on the field. The Rams must replace both starting safety positions and Delmas could be a good start.
