NFL free agency rumors: Keenan Lewis visits New Orleans Saints

Free agent cornerback Keenan Lewis will visit with the New Orleans Saints.

Continuing to look for defense the New Orleans Saints are set to host free agent cornerback Keenan Lewis, who announced via Twitter that he's visiting the team.

Lewis hasn't generated as much buzz as other free agent cornerbacks, such as Aqib Talib, Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie and Sean Smith, but figures to be an improvement for New Orleans' secondary -- should they land him.

Lewis became a full-time starter in 2012 for the Pittsburgh Steelers, recording 71 tackles, defending 23 passes and forcing a fumble. However he did not pull in an interception.

New Orleans' pass defense was one of the worst in the NFL in 2012, ranking 31st in opposing passing yards per game. Opposing quarterbacks averaged 292.6 ypg against New Orleans' porous secondary. Lewis would undoubtedly be an upgrade for the Saints in the secondary, as he proved himself to be a capable starter in 2012.

Pittsburgh drafted Lewis in the third round of the 2009 NFL Draft out of Oregon State. Lewis started 17 games in four seasons for the Steelers, including all 16 in 2012.
