Titans reached agreement on a three-year, $10 million deal with former Jets RB Shonn Greene.— Adam Schefter (@AdamSchefter) March 13, 2013
Green was a third-round pick in the 2009 NFL draft by the New York Jets and has played in all but three of the Jets' games over the last four years. In that time, he carried the ball 822 times for a total of 3,423 yards and 18 touchdowns. His best two years were in 2011 and 2012 when he carried the ball for 2,117 yards and 14 touchdowns.
Green is a bigger back than Johnson, standing at 5'11 and weighing in at 226 pounds. He has the size and strength to carry the ball between the tackles on a consistent basis while Johnson, who weighs 191 pounds is better suited to carry the ball outside. The two should work well together and may remind Titans fans of the days when Johnson was paired with LenDale White earlier in his career.
The Titans are surely hoping that the move will help boost the production of the team's running game, which should, in turn, help Jake Locker's progression as a quarterback.
