Add the New York Jets to the list of NFL teams interested in free agent Ahmad Bradshaw. Speaking on the ESPN Radio's The Michael Kay Show (via NJ.com) on Thursday, Bradshaw also affirmed that the Green Bay Packers and the Pittsburgh Steelers are in pursuit, creating a potential battle for the young, but somewhat-worn running back.
Bradshaw is looking to be a primary ball-carrier next season. All three of his top suitors could give him that opportunity. The Packers, Steelers and Jets lost Cedric Benson, Rashard Mendenhall and Shonn Greene, respectively, after the 2012 season. The Jets did sign Mike Goodson during the first week of free agency, but he has yet to prove he can be an every-down ball-carrier in his career.
Bradshaw is just 27 years old, but struggled to remain healthy under heavy workloads with the New York Giants. In January, he had another screw inserted into his broken foot, a procedure that requires a 10-week recovery period. As a result, Bradshaw said that he does not want to work out for teams, at least not until he knows he is back up to speed. Whether that wait makes him more difficult to sign remains to be seen.
Bradshaw spoke highly of all three teams, and in particular, the Jets. When prodded, he said he would have no trouble adjusting to the different coaching styles of Rex Ryan and Giants head coach Tom Coughlin (via NJ.com).
"I know for sure," Bradshaw said. "You know what, I've heard from a lot of guys (Rex) is a great coach. It's not even about that with me. He seems to get his guys going for games and for the weeks that they're playing. That's what it's all about, just having fun."
