Tom Zbikowski signs with Bears on one-year contract

Zbikowski started in 11 games for the Colts in 2012 before his season ended due to a knee injury.

Former Ravens and Colts safety Tom Zbikowski on Saturday came to a one-year agreement with the Chicago Bears, the team announced.

Zbikowski, 27, is a native of Illinois and played high school football in Buffalo Grove, a suburb of Chicago. A third-round pick of the Baltimore Ravens in the 2008 NFL Draft, Zbikowski played four seasons with the team before signing a three-year, $5.5 million contract. with the Indianapolis Colts in 2012.

He started in 11 games with the Colts before a knee injury held him out of the last five games of the season. Zbikowski was released prior to free agency as a cap casualty. In his five-year career, Zbikowski has started in 25 games and played in 64.

Zbikowski has also drawn attention for his career as a professional boxer, which he continued during the NFL lockout in 2011. He has a career 4-0 record and last defeated Blake Warner with a first-round knockout in April 2011.
