Hayden, 29, signed a one-year contract worth $825,000 with the Bears during the 2012 offseason and appeared in all 16 games for the team, making two starts. He primarily served as the team's nickel cornerback with Charles Tillman and Tim Jennings, anchoring a defense that finished with the third fewest points allowed in the league.
Before signing with the Bears, Hayden played one season with the Atlanta Falcons after leaving the Indianapolis Colts. A second-round pick in the 2005 NFL Draft by the Colts, Hayden played his first six NFL seasons in Indianapolis, where he made 46 career starts.
Hayden has recorded 12 career interceptions, including one in 2012 against the Arizona Cardinals in Week 16, his only interception of the year.
