Cason, a former first-round pick, is generating some interest on the open market.
San Diego Chargers cornerback Antoine Cason is set to become a free agent and has already drawn interest from multiple teams during the NFL's "legal tampering" period of free agency, according to Adam Caplan.
Cason was a first-round pick of the Chargers back in 2008. Since being drafted, Cason's career has been up and down. He didn't crack the starting lineup until 2010, but had some big interceptions early on in his career. He's got some length to him but hasn't been able to put things together yet in his career.
Still just 26 years old, though, Cason's best football could be in front of him if he finds the right fit. Apparently NFL teams agree, as Caplan says multiple teams have shown interest.
The report is vague. I mean, I would imagine multiple teams are "showing interest" in most players. That's how free agency works. But early in the process, it has to be a good sign for Cason that he's generating some interest and should have some success on the open market. Whether that will translate into more consistent play on the field remains to be seen.
