Linebacker Dannell Ellerbe has said that he wishes to stay a member of the Baltimore Ravens and it has been reported that the team has made him a top priority; however, no deal has been reached and other teams are now in the mix, according to Ellerbe's agent.
On Saturday, the first day of the new three-day, pre-free agency shopping period in which front offices can contact prospective free agents, Ellerbe's agent Hadley Englehard told Jim Corbett of USA Today Sports that several teams have contacted him, including one at the exact moment they had the opportunity to do so.
"I've had dialogue with teams. There were several. One team in particular called me at 12:01.''
Ellerbe, 27, saw the most playing time of his career after a triceps injury sent Ray Lewis to the injured reserve. Ellerbe filled in admirably, accumulating 92 tackles and 4.5 sacks on a team that eventually found its way to the Super Bowl, where it defeated the San Francisco 49ers, 34-31.
The 2013 NFL free agency period is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m. ET on Tuesday, March 12.
