Bryant McKinnie draws interest from Chargers, Saints

Free agent tackle Bryant McKinnie has drawn interest from the Chargers and Saints, as well as the Ravens.

Free agent offensive tackle Bryant McKinnie is drawing interest from the San Diego Chargers and New Orleans Saints as well as his former team, the Baltimore Ravens, according to Aaron Wilson.

McKinnie, 33, failed to crack the Ravens' starting lineup for the entire regular season in 2012, but stepped in during the playoffs and started all four games at left tackle and played well. McKinnie spent the first nine seasons of his career with the Minnesota Vikings, making the Pro Bowl in 2009, but was cut in 2011 after showing up to training camp overweight. His playing weight has gone up and down since then and is part of the reason he did not start during the 2012 regular season.

The Chargers had one of the worst offensive lines in the league last season and McKinnie would certainly be an upgrade at the left tackle position. The Saints lost their starting left tackle Jermon Bushrod to the Bears this offseason. New Orleans added Jason Smith, but McKinnie is a much more accomplished lineman. The Ravens have also expressed interest in retaining McKinnie, but the two sides appear far apart.
