The New York Jets are very interested in outside linebacker Barkevious Mingo of the LSU TIgers, according to Conor Orr of The Star-Ledger.
Mingo has long been looked upon as a good fit for the Jets, since they are a team that desperately needs a pass rusher who can do some damage. Last year, Quinton Coples led the team with 5.5 sacks.
The good news? A rookie provided good production. The bad news? There have been players such as Derrick Thomas who have had more sacks in a single game than that.
Mingo registered 4.5 sacks for LSU last year in the tough SEC. Many feel as though the Louisiana native is simply scratching the surface of his talent. However Mingo's lack of size at 6'4, 241 lbs. has some concerned.
Now armed with the No. 9 and 13 picks following the Darrelle Revis trade that sent the corner to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday, New York has plenty of options.
Another option, should Mingo go elsewhere, would be Dion Jordan of the Oregon Ducks. Jordan has also been worked out by Rex Ryan and co. and is an athletic freak of nature. Jordan can be moved all over the field, also with the ability to cover tight ends and backs.
SB Nation's latest mock has Mingo falling to the Jets with the newly acquired No. 13 choice received in the Darrelle Revis trade.
