NFL Draft results 2013: Chargers find their offensive lineman in Fluker

SB Nation's Chargers blog reacts to the D.J. Fluker selection.

The San Diego Chargers have selected Alabama OT D.J. Fluker with the 11th overall pick. He becomes the sixth offensive lineman off the board, and fills an important need for the Chargers.

SB Nation's Chargers blog Bolts From The Blue is not happy with the pick, though. Head blogger John Gennaro believes the Chargers pulled the trigger on a reach pick after the top tackles went early:

This was not the best player available, this was a desperation pick for the highest-rated Tackle left in the draft. The team now has a handful of Right Tackles and nobody that can play on the left side to protect Philip Rivers' blind-side.

I am obviously not a fan of this as Tom Telesco's first pick as General Manager of the Chargers. The team has obvious needs at Nose Tackle and Safety. San Diego could've had the best player at either of those positions in this draft, but they instead chose to get (arguably) the 4th best Tackle instead.

Fluker may be forced to play right tackle or guard at the next level due to his struggles in pass protection. It's questionable whether taking a right tackle with the 11th pick is a wise decision for the new front office.
