2013 NFL Draft trades: 49ers, Packers stay busy on Day 2

Debby Wong-USA TODAY Sports

Only seven trades were made on Day 2 of the draft. The 49ers and Packers were involved in three of them.

It was relatively quiet on the trading front at the second day of the NFL Draft. Only seven trades took place over the second and third rounds as teams seemed content to sit on their picks and stick to their boards. There were a handful of busy teams, however.

The San Francisco 49ers and Tennessee Titans got the trading action started early. Their first trade was also the biggest one of the day. The 49ers moved down from No. 34 to No. 40, while the Titans gave up this year's 216th pick and a 2014 3rd rounder to move up to 34. The Titans used the pick on Tennessee's Justin Hunter while the 49ers took Florida State's Tank Carradine with the No. 40 pick.

The San Diego Chargers swapped spots with the Arizona Cardinals shortly thereafter. The Chargers moved from No. 45 to No. 38 to take Notre Dame's Manti Te'o. They also got the 110th pick from Arizona. The Cardinals chose LSU's Kevin Minter at No. 45.

The 49ers got busy again, trading the 61st and 173rd picks to the Green Bay Packers to move up to No. 55, where they selected Rice's Vance McDonald. The Packers gambled that Alabama's Eddie Lacy would be available late in the second and were right, picking him up with that 61st pick.

Just one pick later, the Baltimore Ravens jumped up to No. 56 to grab Kansas State's Arthur Brown, sending their 62nd, 165th and 199th picks to the Seattle Seahawks. The Seahawks chose Texas A&M's Christine Michael with the final pick of the second round.

In the third round, the New Orleans Saints sent their 106th and 109th picks to the Miami Dolphins in order to move up to No. 82, where they drafted Georgia's John Jenkins.

The 49ers and Packers became trade partners once again, with San Francisco flipping their 93rd and 216th picks to Green Bay to move up five spots and take Corey Lemonier.

Finally, the Packers decided to move out of the third round, sending the No. 93 pick they got from the 49ers to the Miami Dolphins. They got the 109th, 146th and 224th picks back in return. Miami used that pick to draft Utah State's Will Davis.
