O.J. Atogwe attempting NFL comeback, according to agent

Patrick McDermott

The 31-year-old safety wants another shot at the NFL. He last appeared in the NFL with the Redskins in 2011 and failed to make the Eagles out of training camp in 2012.

Veteran defensive back O.J. Atogwe did not play in the NFL last season, but he is still trying to catch on with a team, according to his agent. Atogwe was originally a sixth-round selection by the Rams in 2005 and spent six seasons in St. Louis.

Atogwe came off the bench during his rookie season but became a mainstay in the St. Louis starting lineup after that. He started 75 games for the Rams from 2006 to 2010, recording a career-high eight interceptions in 2007 and a career-high 77 tackles in 2008.

Atogwe spent the 2011 season with the Redskins and picked off three passes; he was released by the franchise in March of 2012, subsequently picked up by the Eagles, and then released again prior to the start of the season.
