RB Maurice Jones-Drew said he's making progress, ran 3/4 speed today for a bit. #jaguars— Ryan O'Halloran (@ryanohalloran) May 13, 2013
Jones-Drew suffered the injury during Jacksonville's Oct. 21 game against the Oakland Raiders, and he didn't play again during the 2012 season. He had surgery on Dec. 28 to repair the left foot and removed his walking boot in late March. If Jones-Drew's rehab continues as expected, he hopes to be ready for the start of the 2013 season.
The 28-year-old, entering his eighth season in the NFL, is going into a contract year. He'll need to play well and stay healthy to erase any doubts teams may have when he is trying to find his next contract. In 2012, Jones-Drew compiled a career-low 414 yards and one touchdown.
Before his lost injury season, Jones-Drew had three straight Pro Bowl campaigns. From 2009-11, he totaled 4,321 yards and 28 touchdowns, averaging 4.5 yards per carry.
