Williams had surgery in mid-February to clean up his right Achilles tendon, which was described as "frayed". It wasn't as bad as the left Achilles rupture he suffered in 2011, and he was given a rehab timetable of five months, meaning he should be medically cleared to return in time for camp. Williams isn't participating in any spring workouts.
Despite suffering the injury in the middle of the season, Williams played in all 16 games and recorded 46 tackles, five sacks and two passes defended. In addition to the injury update, Williams stated that he will have to learn positions that involve putting his hand on the ground. The Bills are transitioning to a 3-4 defense under new defensive coordinator Mike Pettine.
