Not all of us grew up with a father, but we all likely grew up with some TV dad's. Here's an ode to the men that were always there for us, at least every Thursday at 9 p.m./8 p.m. Central.
Michael Vick as Otis Drexell from Drexell's Class
If you don't remember or know about Drexell's Class, it was a short-run early-90's show starring Dabney Coleman, A.J. Langer and a young Brittany Murphy. And if you don't know about it, then you don't know the premise or the connection to Vick, so let me tell you:
It's a show about a guy who is forced to take a teaching job because he has to pay back the IRS for cheating on his taxes. Now you see the connection.
Andy Dalton as Chaz Finster from Rugrats
If you think I'm only making this connection because of the red hair ... you're right. But that's fair because every person with red hair is generally a frazzled, introverted weirdo anyway.
Tony Romo as Phil Dunphy from Modern Family
Seems like a likeable guy, but you're not entirely sure there's anything going on "up there" while he's making all those boneheaded mistakes.
Brandon Weeden as Jay Pritchett from Modern Family
You're a little old to be doing this.
Mark Sanchez as Don Draper from Mad Men
Okay, we get it, you're good looking. But at some point you should start taking the blame for all your problems.
Jay Cutler as Rufus Humphrey from Gossip Girl
I didn't watch this show, but I hear Rufus was pretty concerned about being a stylish hipster.
Cam Newton as Derek Norris from Saved by the Bell
Get off your giant phone and take me fishing, you jerk.
Russell Wilson as Danny Tanner from Full House
Has never said a cuss word in his life. Is so straight edge that you just want him to let his hair down and be normal for once, but he's surrounded by crazy characters, wild men, and loud mouths so it's hard to notice.
Also, is constantly cleaning up the field.
Ben Roethlisberger as Jaime Lannister from Game of Thrones
A loooootttt of questionable behavior going on over there.
Geno Smith as Michael Taylor from My Two Dads
Apparently Rex Ryan could be eyeing double-duty for the quarterbacks again this year. Somebody needs to be the Paul Reiser to Sanchez's "unnamed actor who played the dad that's not Paul Reiser."
Tim Tebow as David Bryan in The Sinbad Show
Remember when Sinbad was successful a really, really, really, really long time ago? Now he's the opening act at Tulalip Casino. This might be more of a "peak into your future, Tim" than presently accurate. But don't worry, it's happening.
Eli Manning as Homer Simpson from.. well, you know
Has Manning ever had a CT Scan? No crayons in there?
Kevin Kolb as Chet Hunter from Boy Meets World
Chet was Shawn's deadbeat dad who was never around. And when he was around, it was never as good for Shawn as he thought it would be.
Carson Palmer as Kirk Hartman from Kirk
Kirk Cameron had his own show, many years after he was popular in the mainstream. It wasn't nearly as good.
Philip Rivers as Diller from Hiller & Diller
Richard Lewis (Diller) and Kevin Nealon (Hiller) had a show together back in 1997. Man, what a lot of failed potential.
