Paul Soliai's agent expects Dolphins to make extension offer

Steve Mitchell-US PRESSWIRE

The Dolphins face decisions with the impending free agency of both Soliai and Randy Starks.

Miami Dolphins defensive lineman Paul Soliai's agent, David Canter, believes his client will be a long-term fixture with his current team, according to the Palm Beach Post.

Canter has faith things will work out between the two sides as he waits for an offer, per the Post:

"I'm optimistic the team will come to us with a fair market deal to try and get it done," Canter said. "If not we'll play it out."

Soliai is in the final year of a two-year contract he received following a 2011 franchise tag designation. Should Miami decide not to extend Soliai before the season ends, it will have a situation on its hands with both Soliai and Randy Starks becoming free agents.

Starks is the current franchise tag player for the Dolphins and it's highly unlikely the Dolphins would franchise him again, considering they would have to pay him 120 percent of his 2013 salary.

Last year, Soliai made 29 tackles and had 1.5 sacks while clogging the middle as one of the more well-known nose tackles in the game. Starks was doing his job on the end, amassing 27 tackles and 4.5 sacks on the campaign.
