Mike McCarthy 'not concerned' about Tramon Williams injury

USA TODAY Sports

Tramon Williams missed another day of practice with a knee injury, but the Packers don't think it's as bad as initially feared.

Green Bay Packers cornerback Tramon Williams missed another day of practice with a knee injury on Tuesday, but head coach Mike McCarthy says that he's "not concerned," per NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.

Williams left Sunday's practice with the injury, but it doesn't appear to be that serious. Rapoport believes that the issue is his knee cartilage and there is no ligament damage. McCarthy thinks he may sit out a couple weeks of practice, just as a precaution, but he should be healthy well ahead of the regular season.

Williams is coming off a shoulder injury that hampered him last season. He recorded 61 tackles, two interceptions and 15 passes defended. The two interceptions are his lowest season total since his 2007 rookie year.

With Casey Hayward nursing a hamstring injury, the Packers' cornerback depth will be thin for a couple weeks. Davon House and James Nixon will fight for reps alongside Sam Shields until Williams and Hayward are ready to go.
