In a prepared statement, officer Jillian Russell detailed Connor's arrest:
"On Saturday, July 6, 2013 at approximately 9 a.m., inside of Philadelphia International Airport, a TSA officer observed a switchblade in the luggage of a male who was attempting to enter a terminal at the airport. The knife was first observed on an X-ray machine monitor by a TSA officer. After making the observation, Philadelphia Police were notified and the male was taken into custody. The male has been identified as Dan Connor, a 27-year-old male from Charlotte, N.C. Connor is charged with possession of an offensive weapon."
Connor doesn't have much of an arrest history, so the Giants will hope this was an isolated incident. Pat Hanlon, a spokesman for the team, told media that the linebacker is "cooperating with the authorities in Philadelphia."
The Giants signed Connor to a one-year contract in March and expect him to compete with Mark Herzlich for a starting linebacker job. Last year with the Dallas Cowboys, he compiled 56 tackles and three tackles for loss in 14 games.
