San Francisco 49ers cornerback Chris Culliver suffered an injury to his left knee during Thursday's practice and was carted off the field. The extent of the injury is not known at the moment, but several 49ers beat writers noted that Culliver was emotional to the point of tears, and was being comforted by general manager Trent Baalke while being carted off.

Culliver served as the 49ers' third cornerback last season, recording two interceptions, 47 tackles and 15 passes defended. The team has yet to reveal how bad his injury is, but for now it leaves the depth chart in a lurch. Carlos Rogers, Tarell Brown, Nnamdi Asomugha and Tramaine Brock are all fighting for playing time in the secondary.
