It took a little while, but Dallas Clark finally has a new team. Just hours after Adam Shefter reported that Clark wanted to play in 2013 and was close to a deal, the Ravens signed the former Colts and Buccaneers tight end to a one-year contract. Clark caught 47 passes for just over 400 yards with the Bucs last season.
The Bills and Colts played the lone preseason game of the afternoon, and E.J. Manuel, the first quarterback taken in the 2013 NFL Draft, made his debut for Buffalo. The Colts' backups didn't fare too well, and the Bills managed to pull away with a 44-20 victory. Buffalo coach Doug Marrone kept his starters in a bit longer than most coaches do in the preseason, which may have helped his team on the scoreboard. Manuel's day was up and down, but he finished strong with a two-minute drill that ended in a touchdown at the end of the first half.
Season-ending injuries seem to be sweeping across training camp, and on Sunday, the injury bug made a stop in Carolina. Backup fullback, rookie Mike Zodrich tore his ACL and will be out for the season. An undrafted free agent out of Penn State, Zodrich was competing for a roster spot and working as Mike Tolbert's primary backup at fullback for Carolina. The team will be able to stash him on injured reserve as long as he clears waivers.
