Wade Smith injury: Texans OL has knee scoped

Pro Bowl guard Wade Smith had a knee scope surgery and is out indefinitely.

Houston Texans offensive guard Wade Smith had a knee scope surgery and is out for an undetermined amount of time, according to John McClain of the Houston Chronicle.

Smith had a similar surgery in the offseason, but it's unknown if his recent scope is related to that injury. The 32-year-old started all 16 games at left guard for the Texans last season, making his first Pro Bowl appearance and teaming up with left tackle Duane Brown to form one of the best offensive lines in the league.

There is no timetable set for his return. Knee scopes typically take 4-6 weeks to recover from, so there's a chance Smith won't be ready for the regular season. Ben Jones will start at left guard in his place for now. Jones was a fourth-round draft pick in 2012 and started 10 games at right guard in his rookie year.
