Roddy White has been diagnosed with a low-ankle sprain after being forced to leave the Atlanta Falcons' preseason loss to the Baltimore Ravens due to injury Thursday night. According to NFL.com's Ian Rapoport, White would be gearing up to play in the Falcons' Week 3 matchup against the Tennessee Titans if the injury occurred during the regular season. Being preseason, Rapoport expects White to miss some time.
White has never missed a regular season game in his career, and it does not appear that his streak of 128 games is in any danger. Falcons fans were understandably worried about the wide receiver after the game, given how important he has been to Atlanta's passing attack. After eight seasons of consistent play, White has arguably earned the right to sit out the rest of preseason and allow his ankle to heal.
If White sits, the Falcons' young receivers should see more reps with the first- and second-string offenses. Drew Davis, Kevin Cone, Marcus Jackson and Martel Moore are among the many former undrafted rookie free agents hoping to make the final 53-man roster out of training camp.
