Both the Dolphins and the Saints are looking to improve from their 7-9 records a year ago and return to the playoffs. While many see New Orleans as the better team, Miami might have the easier path by playing in the AFC.
They meet on Thursday to wrap up the preseason and get one last look at their rosters before final cuts.
One player you won't see playing for Miami on Thursday is third overall pick Dion Jordan. The Dolphins traded up to select the defensive end in April's draft, but he will be out with a shoulder injury and it's believed he could also miss the season opener. That hurts the rookies transition to the NFL and Miami could really use another pass-rusher to pair with Cameron Wake.
Perhaps the biggest question for the Saints this year, at least for those of you watching to try and improve your fantasy team, is which player will step up as Drew Brees' third receiver after Marques Colston and Lance Moore. The loss of Joe Morgan for the season means that either Nick Toon or Andy Tanner could see themselves as the target of many Brees passes this year, but which one?
