Kevin Kolb injury: Bills QB day-to-day after tweaked knee

USA TODAY Sports

Kevin Kolb tweaked his knee when he slipped on a wet mat before practice. He is considered day-to-day.

Buffalo Bills head coach Doug Marrone confirmed quarterback Kevin Kolb tweaked his knee and is considered day-to-day. Rookie E.J. Manuel will take the first-team reps in the meantime.

In one of the more bizarre training camp injuries yet, Kolb slipped on a wet mat while walking out onto the practice field. He took his pads off and had his left knee examined by the training staff. Kolb did not return for practice.

Marrone doesn't believe the injury is serious and Kolb should be ready for the preseason, but it's an ill-timed accident. He is battling Manuel for the starting job and this unfortunate injury gives the rookie all the first-team practice reps and more opportunities to impress the coaching staff.

Kolb has been snake-bitten by injuries for most of his career, missing 10 games with a rib injury last season. He threw for 1,169 yards and eight touchdowns in the six games he did play.
