Running back Lance Ball, wide receiver Gerrell Robinson and cornerback Aaron Hester were among the Denver Broncos' first wave of roster cuts on Friday, according to various reports (via Mile High Report).
The team must trim its roster from 75 to 53 by Saturday at 6 p.m. ET, so expect the remaining 19 names to be out by then.
Ball spent the last three seasons with Denver, appearing in 41 games and rushing for 718 yards. His roster spot will likely go to undrafted rookie free agent C.J. Anderson. Ball announced his release on Twitter:
Closing another chapter in my book, thanks to the Broncos Organization for the years of great memories and also the fans who supported me!— Lance Ball (@LanceBall35) August 30, 2013
Hester signed as an undrafted free agent out of UCLA this offseason and played in three preseason games, recording seven tackles.
Robinson returned to the Broncos after spending last season on the Arizona Cardinals' practice squad. He recorded nine receptions for 113 yards and a touchdown this preseason, 99 of which came in the final preseason game.
