The Seahawks opened up their preseason with a big game from Tarvaris Jackson and a win.

Tarvaris Jackson had a big game for the Seattle Seahawks with a 158.3 quarterback rating, leading his team to a 31-10 victory over the San Diego Chargers. Jackson finished the game going 8-for-9 passing with a pair of touchdowns. He led all quarterbacks with 128 passing yards.

On the other hand, Charlie Whitehurst had a terrible game for San Diego, throwing two interceptions, getting sacked three times and completing only 7 of his 15 pass attempts. Chargers starter Philip Rivers had a better outing, completing 5 of his 6 throws for 45 yards before being yanked in favor of Whitehurst.

Christine Michael rushed for a game-high 89 yards for the Seahawks. Spencer Ware scored the only rushing touchdown of the game and gathered 32 yards total on the ground. The Chargers' lone touchdown came from a 21-yard completion from Brad Sorensen to Ladarius Green in the fourth quarter. San Diego was only 3-for-13 in third down conversions.

The Seahawks opened their preseason with a win and next host the Denver Broncos on August 17. The Chargers visit the Chicago Bears on August 15 for another Thursday night game.
