Brandon Lloyd turns down multiple NFL offers

Lloyd reportedly has no interest in returning to the NFL this season, and the veteran wideout's career may soon be over as result.

Brandon Lloyd reportedly has no interest in returning to the NFL this season. According to Pro Football Talk, at least six teams have offered the veteran wide receiver a contract for 2013, including the New York Jets, the San Francisco 49ers and the New England Patriots, with whom he played last season. Per a source close to Lloyd, he maintains that he is neither physically nor mentally ready to continue his career at this time.

Lloyd seemingly still has the capability to perform at a high level. Last season, he had 74 receptions for 911 yards and four touchdowns for the Patriots at 31 years old. Lloyd has only had one season that was more productive in his career. With the Denver Broncos in 2010, he caught 77 passes for a league-leading 1,448 yards, adding 11 touchdowns.

Whether we ever see Lloyd in an NFL uniform again remains to be seen. Odds appear slim that he will suit up in 2013, and beyond this season he may be too advanced in age and too rusty to entice NFL teams even if he wants to make a comeback.
