The Buffalo Bills and New York Jets are both 1-1 after Week 2, though they went in opposite directions. The Jets won their first game, and though their defense played excellently against Tom Brady and the New England Patriots in Week 2, they were still unsuccessful. The Bills, who played well against the aforementioned Patriots in Week 1 (and also fell short), managed a narrow 24-23 victory over the Carolina Panthers this past week.
In Week 3, the Bills and Jets will face off, meaning one of them will have a losing record when it's all said and done. Oddsmakers believe that team will be the Bills, as it happens. According to OddsShark, the Jets opened as 2.5-point favorites, and the line has gone in both directions throughout the week. Some sites have New York favored by just one point, while others have it favored by a field goal.
New York is the home team and is getting some points for that advantage, which likely means oddsmakers consider the two teams about equal in talent, or even possibly favor the Bills slightly. Both teams feature a rookie quarterback at the helm, with Geno Smith taking snaps for the Jets and E.J. Manuel under center for the Bills.
The over/under for the game is right around 39 points. The total has gone under in four of Buffalo's last six games, and in six of New York's last seven games, but it is pretty low. That's a definite judgment call, there.
