Chargers vs. Titans 2013: Tennessee took advantage of San Diego's mistakes

Wesley Hitt

Our SB Nation writers react to the Titans' comeback win over the Chargers in Week 3.

The Titans were able to sneak out of their Week 3 matchup with a win against the Chargers in Tennessee on Sunday. Titans quarterback Jake Locker was able hit rookie wide receiver Justin Hunter with a 34-yard bomb that led to the game-winning touchdown with 1:50 left in the fourth quarter. The Chargers were unable to recover with the remaining time on the clock and lost, 20-17. The Titans are now 2-1, while the Chargers currently sit at 1-2.

John Gennaro of Bolts From The Blue believes the Chargers' late-game performance was just another wasted opportunity to add a tally to the win column:

This was an ugly game from the beginning, filled with plenty of missed tackles, dropped passes, penalties and injuries for both sides, but the final game-winning drive by Jake Locker and the Tennessee Titans really helped to file it under "heartbreak losses for the Chargers." Especially when Marcus Gilchrist dropped an easy interception that would've sealed the win for San Diego.

Jimmy Morris of Music City Miracles believes the Titans took advantage of their opportunities and that this win could give the Titans momentum:

That was one of the most exciting games I have ever watched. The Titans tried time and time again to give the game away, but they ended up winning it when Jake Locker found Justin Hunter from 34 yards out with just 21 seconds left on the clock. Hunter had dropped a pass in the end zone earlier in the game (although he was interfered with and it wasn't called).

Locker also missed a wide open Damian Williams earlier in the drive for what would have been a touchdown.

It was great to see this team fight back through a bunch of adversity and still get a win. This could be one of those games that is really the start of something special.

The Chargers will host the Cowboys in Week 4, while the Titans will host the Jets.
