The Cardinals' injury issues at outside linebacker went from bad to worse on Tuesday with the news rookie Alex Okafor is out for the season due to a torn biceps tendon. Okafor is the third outside linebacker to be lost for the season this week.
Okafor made his season debut last week against New Orleans. Head coach Bruce Arians didn't confirm when Okafor suffered the injury, but Darren Urban of AZCardinals.com speculated it occurred against the Saints. The fourth-round pick had moved to the top of the depth chart this week with Lorenzo Alexander and Sam Acho suffering season-ending injuries against the Saints. Alexander was placed on injured reserve with a Lisfranc injury while Acho broke his ankle.
Acho, Alexander and Okafor were the top three players on Arizona's depth chart at SAM linebacker heading into Week 3. Arizona will now be forced to rely on players only recently added to the roster. Arizona signed Dontay Moch, Kenny Demens and Vic So'oto to the active roster and either Moch or So'oto will likely start on Sunday.
The Cardinals will get a boost next week when linebacker Daryl Washington is eligible to be activated following a four-game suspension. Washington plays inside linebacker, but will at least give the Cardinals another option.
